David Booth is a Visual Artist whose primary focus is on painting and drawing. He currently maintains a studio practice in Dublin, Ireland. Having completed a BFA at Wexford Campus School of Art in 2013 he moved to Dublin to begin his career as an artist, during which time he has exhibited both Nationally and Internationally.
David's work has been featured in The Irish Times, he was awarded the Evans painting prize in 2016 and was part of the Zurich Portrait prize in 2018. David is now currently working towards a solo shows in 2019. Davids work locates itself between being direct and indirect, traditional yet unconventional. Technical discipline informs mark-making, in turn
presenting a slyly coherent engagement with the viewer. Focusing predominantly on portraiture, David balances between prudent realism and graphic abstraction to create fractured compositions that aim to intrude upon the presets and impressions we have given to ourselves.
