Alexis Marga describes her art as a diary of memories and daydreams, of reality and fantasy coexisting. Inspired by the surreal and dark themes of fairy tales and myths, her art explores beauty and melancholy, occasionally exhibiting a gentle playfulness, while using nature as symbolisms in her story-telling.
From a young age, she liked to draw anime characters and enjoyed reading fictional stories. When she was 8, her family moved to the province of Bulacan where the change in environment tickled her imagination, sparking an interest in drawing and writing her own stories and characters.
After studying Fine Arts at Bulacan State University, she worked as a digital graphic artist before learning to paint with oils. Alexis takes inspiration from classical art and romanticism, combining the imagery with her early influences: anime and tales.
In 2020, she started incorporating sculpture in her works, creating with epoxy, clay, and resins elements often designed as a frame to decorate and complement the narrative of her paintings.
