The 1% and the 52%

Mauricio Macias was born June 7th, 1997 in Mexico City, Mexico. However, shorty after his family would move to the city of Puebla, where his childhood would take place. His passion for art started the very moment he could hold a crayon in his hand, and he hasn't stopped painting and drawing since. Puebla's antique, colonial architecture and omnipresent, at times ominous religious imagery, would heavily influence him later on.

At four years old he decided his vocation was filmmaking, a decision he's kept ever since.

Mauricio currentluy is studying a Bachelor in Cinematography in the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla ("Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla" in spanish), and is a talented painter, illustrator, production designer, director, screenwriter, storyboard artist, poet, composer, 2D animator, make-up artist, etc.

Despite his inspiration stems from his neurosis, anxiety, fears and deepest inner demons, his work is always wrapped in more than darkness and terror. Mauricio Macias's biggest accomplishment, in his own and odd perspective, has been and will always be the ability to find the beauty, the light and the sublime, even in the darkest monster and the most decadent horror.
