Collections: Available Artwork, Lore: Myth, Magic, and the Macabre, Ron Norman
Type: Original Artwork
Ron Norman is a Northern California artist whose intricate graphite drawings invite viewers into worlds both familiar and strange. Working with a precision that recalls classical draftsmanship, he weaves together elements of still life, surrealism, and the macabre. His compositions often juxtapose delicate natural forms with unsettling objects such as skulls, dolls, insects, and hybrid creatures, evoking themes of mortality, transformation, and the uncanny.
Inspired by vanitas traditions and the surreal imagination, Norman’s work blurs the boundaries between reality and dream, order and chaos. Flowers bloom beside bones, mechanical contraptions take flight, and mythic oddities emerge from shadow. Through meticulous detail, he creates images that serve as meditations on impermanence, curiosity, and the strange beauty found in life’s mysteries.
