Wanderlust is an international group exhibition inspired by travel, far-away places, adventurous experiences and fascinating destinations. Participating artists were given identical postcards and asked to create a unique piece for the show inspired by the theme “wanderlust”. Travel via boat, plane, foot, and yes, even jellyfish to your favorite destination in this eclectic and imaginative exhibition!
"I was born in the Philippines, raised in the dusty deserts of Arizona, and now live in the rainy city of Portland, Oregon. I attended the Pacific Northwest College of Art but later dropped out, only to land my first solo show in Portland soon after. Over five long years were spent working as a bartender at a neighborhood bar, during which time I created an autobiographical comic series called "Adult Babysitting". In 2013, I took a leap of faith and went freelance full-time.
On days when we're short on sun in Portland (and even those brief summer days when we're not), you can find me happily working in my studio doing what I love most. I split my time between commercial and personal projects, from sketching character designs for animation, cover illustrations, cartooning, and painting and sculpting characters for my ongoing series,Animal Battle.
These days I live with my husbandJake, a graphic designer atRoundhouse, and feline son Theo, a full-time napper. When I'm not in my studio you'll find me wandering around the city, clinking a glass with friends, or watching movies." ~Maryanna Hoggatt
