Alexandra Verhoven (b. 1994) is an artist based in Toms River, New Jersey.
Her works feature narratives that explore the beauty and mystique of femininity. Elegant characters are complimented by ethereal atmospheres that encompass their story. Their worlds have a magical quality, but are rooted in reality to draw the viewer in and make their environments relatable. These maidens are captured in ephemeral moments that are meant to evoke a sense of wonder in the viewer.
Her painting technique is inspired by classical methods of oil painting involving a tonal underpainting, and color built up over multiple layers.
Her drawings are mixed media pieces often utilizing charcoal and pan pastels along with many other experimental mediums.
